The Hangout by Mall of the Emirates is a new indoor-outdoor precinct that Majid Al Futtaim has introduced inside the Dubai shopping centre. Majid Al Futtaim frames it as one connected destination, where play, meals and social time share the same floor rather than sit in separate corners. It belongs to a wider Mall of the Emirates expansion valued at AED 5 billion, among the larger retail investments the city has seen since the centre opened more than two decades ago.

The design starts from a shift in how people use a mall. Shoppers now look for reasons to stay, not only to buy. Khalifa Bin Braik, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management, put the logic plainly, saying destinations are “competing for people’s time as much as their spend.” The precinct answers that by setting four entertainment venues beside 18 dining outlets, so a single trip can hold a game, a meal and an evening with friends.

Khalifa Bin Braik, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management, said:

“Mall of the Emirates has been defining retail and lifestyle experiences in Dubai for more than two decades. Our ambition now is to ensure its next chapter is as transformative as its first.

“Today, destinations are competing for people’s time as much as their spend. The Hangout responds to that shift by bringing entertainment, dining and social experiences together in a way that creates more reasons for people to visit, stay and connect.

“As part of our AED 5 billion investment in Mall of the Emirates, we are not simply introducing new concepts; we are evolving how the destination is experienced. The Hangout is an important expression of that ambition and of our long-term commitment to ensuring Mall of the Emirates continues to evolve alongside the communities it serves.”

Inside The Hangout by Mall of the Emirates

The Mall of the Emirates entertainment line-up rests on four concepts, each built around a different kind of play. Activate, billed as the world’s first active gaming experience, opens in October 2026 after its debut at City Centre Mirdif. It spreads across 12 light-up rooms and more than 50 interactive challenges, and it is open to guests aged six and above. Teams move through the rooms, solve tasks under time pressure and track their results on a global leaderboard.

SOCO follows in the fourth quarter of 2026. The 2,700 square metre venue centres on social play, with bowling lanes, simulators billed as a UAE first, augmented-reality darts, karaoke and private party rooms. Food sits inside the concept rather than beside it, so groups can eat without leaving the floor.

A space for families

Explorers arrives in the first quarter of 2027, also carried over from City Centre Mirdif. The 2,500 square metre space targets children aged one to twelve, with three play zones that include suspended net climbs and water play tied to simple science. Workshops in cooking, woodworking and arts run alongside the free play. It deepens the family entertainment Dubai parents look for close to home, pairing open play with guided skill-building.

Magic Planet forms the fourth concept and will reopen in a reworked form in 2027. Majid Al Futtaim is rebuilding one of its best-known family brands for a newer audience, keeping familiar rides while adding features aimed at today’s visitors. Together, the four venues position The Hangout by Mall of the Emirates as a new entertainment destination in Dubai rather than a single attraction.

A new dining district

Dining runs through the whole precinct. The line-up adds new restaurants at Mall of the Emirates across several cuisines, with 12 restaurants and four kiosks spanning Indian, Levantine, Italian and Pan-Asian cooking. Confirmed names include Fatt Pundit, Crunch, Apollo, Asma, Junk Smash Burger, Public Pizzeria, Crystal Jade Noodle Bar and Feels, with more to come. Two of the entertainment venues also hold their own food outlets, tying meals and play even closer together.

During Dubai’s cooler months, the precinct extends into the centre’s first outdoor F&B courtyard. Operable façades open the indoor floor onto a garden social space, so diners can move between the two without a hard break. A climate-controlled walkway will also link the precinct to New Covent Garden Theatre and Fashion Dome, smoothing the route across the wider entertainment district. These features position The Hangout by Mall of the Emirates as a dining and social district in its own right.

What the project signals

The Hangout by Mall of the Emirates forms the first large piece of the AED 5 billion plan to open. Its broader programme also covers a luxury wellness club, further dining precincts, a new theatre and quieter changes such as barrierless parking and better accessibility. Ignace Lahoud, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Entertainment and Lifestyle, pointed to demand for play that is “active, social and shared” as the reason behind the mix.

Ignace Lahoud, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Entertainment and Lifestyle, said:

“Entertainment is evolving as customers increasingly seek experiences that are active, social and shared. The Hangout responds by bringing together Activate, our home-grown concepts SOCO and Explorers, and a reimagined Magic Planet for a new generation.

“Together, they create one connected destination where customers can play, dine and discover more. It represents the future of location-based entertainment: greater choice, more reasons to return and long-term value for the wider destination.”

The phased opening runs through 2026 and into early 2027, which gives the centre time to add venues without closing its doors. For Majid Al Futtaim, the aim is steady: more reasons to visit, longer stays and repeat trips. Shoppers get a mall that treats a day out as the product, not a side effect of buying.

The GANNI x lululemon Dubai launch opens on 15 October, with the collection sold in the UAE only at the lululemon Dubai Mall store. This partnership pairs a Canadian activewear brand with a Copenhagen fashion house. GANNI x lululemon release date is the same worldwide, set for 15 October. Local buyers get one point of sale: the Dubai Mall location.

What the collection includes

The 22-piece GANNI x lululemon collection spans womenswear, accessories and footwear. It mixes familiar lululemon shapes with GANNI design codes. Leopard print, ruffle trims and bold colour pairings run through the range. Proprietary fabrics Nulu and Softstreme feature across the pieces for comfort and freedom of movement.

Dance shapes the look. Leg warmers, boleros and headbands bring 1980s studio style into daily wear. The GANNI lululemon Define Jacket is one reworked favourite, rebuilt through GANNI’s lens. These pieces read as fashion as much as sportswear.

The collection sits between two worlds. lululemon brings technical construction and shapes built for exercise. GANNI brings colour, print and a studio-to-street sensibility. The brands describe a shared belief in the joy of movement, and the range is built to work in a gym class or on the street. Nulu and Softstreme give the fabric its stretch and soft feel. GANNI’s styling turns each piece into something wearable outside a workout. The 22-piece count keeps the range tight rather than broad.

Where the design started

Eighties dance films set the starting point. “Dance movies have been part of my life since I was a child,” said Ditte Reffstrup, Creative Director at GANNI. She drew on the energy and freedom of those films, then blended GANNI motifs like leopard and frills with lululemon’s focus on movement. Jonathan Cheung, Global Creative Director at lululemon, traced the project to movement itself. He said dance was GANNI’s practice, and the line grew from there. Cheung valued the blend of lululemon technical materials with GANNI style.

The campaign behind the drop

GANNI and lululemon opened the GANNI x lululemon collaboration with a campaign called “JOY IS A POWER MOVE.” Actor Jennifer Beals and singer and dancer METTE front it. A short film, shot in a dance studio, moves between rehearsal and performance. Beals described the campaign as an honour and said she is a longtime customer of both brands. METTE said lululemon had been with her since dance school, and GANNI entered her life while she worked on a film in London.

Buying the GANNI x lululemon Dubai collection

The GANNI x lululemon Dubai collection has no second UAE stockist at launch. Shoppers who want the range in person go to the lululemon Dubai Mall store from 15 October. The global line also sells online and in select stores across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. For the Emirates, the Dubai Mall site is the one confirmed door. The GANNI x lululemon Dubai debut gives local buyers the same pieces offered in other markets.

For UAE shoppers, the arrangement is simple. The range is new, the window is a single store, and the stock is shared with global markets. Early demand for limited collaborations can clear fast. Anyone set on a specific size or piece has reason to visit the Dubai Mall store near the 15 October opening.

The Emirates Perfumes and Oud Exhibition opened its fourth edition Friday at Expo Centre Sharjah, with the second Middle East Cosmetics Show running at the same venue. Together, the two events pull fragrance, beauty and personal care under one roof. The fragrance show alone carries more than 200 companies and close to 700 brands.

What the two shows cover

The Emirates Perfumes and Oud Exhibition runs through 18 October. It presents Oriental and Western fragrances, oud oil, incense, blended perfumes, and body and hair scents. Incense burners, scented candles and related goods round out the floor. Visitors can sample products, compare options, and speak with brand teams directly.

Oud sits at the center of the fragrance show. The resin comes from agarwood and holds a long place in Emirati and Arab culture. Buyers can study oud alongside incense and oud oil, and see how makers reshape familiar scents with newer blends.

The Middle East Cosmetics Show takes the second hall. It gathers local and international firms working in cosmetics, skincare and personal care. Products on display reflect current demand across the region and beyond. The pairing lets a single visit cover scent and beauty in one trip.

Who opened the events?

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, inaugurated the two shows. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, joined him. Officials and company representatives attended the ceremony. After the formal opening, guests walked both floors to view the latest launches.

Participants came from several markets. Exhibitors and brands arrived from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, China, Türkiye and India. That spread gives buyers a wide base of suppliers in one place.

Why did Expo Centre Sharjah pair the shows?

Al Midfa said running the two events together reflects the venue’s aim to build an integrated exhibition ecosystem. He tied the move to shifting consumer markets and the growing overlap between fragrance, beauty and personal care. Holding both under one roof, he said, opens more room for interaction, product discovery and knowledge exchange among participants from different countries.

The approach also serves a business goal. Al Midfa said the format strengthens networking and helps companies move into new markets. He pointed to the role of specialised shows in linking brands with consumers and partners, which helps firms read market trends and sharpen their position.

The Emirates Perfumes and Oud Exhibition fits a wider push at the venue. Expo Centre Sharjah uses the emirate’s location and trade links to support commercial partnerships across regional and international markets. The fragrance show and the cosmetics show both feed that effort by drawing buyers and sellers who might not otherwise meet.

The role of the Chamber pavilion

Both shows feature a dedicated pavilion for the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The space gives participating companies and brands a way to raise their visibility and meet potential partners. It also opens a path to new business prospects for firms testing the UAE market.

The pavilion matters for the broader UAE perfume industry. Oud and perfumes carry commercial weight in the Gulf, and direct contact with buyers can shorten the distance to a deal. For smaller brands, a shared Chamber space lowers the cost of showing up next to larger names.

What visitors can do on the floor?

The two exhibitions reward a walk-through rather than a quick look. On the fragrance side, visitors can test oud oils, compare incense, and track how blends differ between makers from the Gulf, Asia and beyond. On the cosmetics side, they can review skincare and personal care lines from firms across several countries.

Both floors stay open through 18 October at Expo Centre Sharjah. Buyers, trade visitors and the public can move between the Emirates Perfumes and Oud Exhibition and the Middle East Cosmetics Show without leaving the building. For anyone tracking oud and perfumes or the beauty trade, the paired format puts a large slice of the sector within reach in a single stop.

Dubai Safari Park Season 8 opens on October 12, 2026, and for the first time, the park turns its reopening into a week-long welcome. If you have children at home during the mid-term break, the timing is no accident. The park built its first Dubai Safari Park Wildest Opening Week around those exact dates, running from October 12 to 18.

This year’s theme is “Live More Wild Life.” It reads like a slogan, but the idea behind it is plain. Spend less time behind a screen, more time close to animals, plants, and open air. For many Dubai families, a day out with the kids is hard to plan around the heat and the school calendar, so an opening week that lands right at the break takes some of that pressure off.

What can families do during the Wildest Opening Week?

Dubai Safari Park Season 8 puts younger visitors at the centre of the celebration. The Little Explorers’ Base Camp is shaped for them. Children can have their faces painted, pick up a temporary tattoo, shape clay models, try arts and crafts, play lawn games and bounce around on safari-themed inflatables. None of it asks much of a tired parent. You can sit, watch, and let them run.

The Dubai Safari Park opening date also marks the return of the park’s wider menu. Across the season, you can walk six Dubai Safari Park themed zones, each built to feel like a different corner of the world. The six are African Village, Asian Village, Explorer Village, the Arabian Desert, Kids Farm and Al Wadi.

Safari tours and the animals you will meet

Every ticket comes with the Arabian Desert Safari. For a closer look, the Explorer Safari Tour carries you through open-range habitats where lions, giraffes and rhinos live with room to roam. The Dubai Safari Park animals number more than 3,000 across 300-plus species, and a 24-hour veterinary facility cares for them.

Want more than a standard visit? Premium experiences include King of Safari, Behind the Scenes, Dine in the Wild and Jungle Capture, with private tours, access most visitors never see, and meals served near the wildlife. Live shows run through the season too, among them Bird’s Kingdom, Echoes of the Wild and Birds of Prey, each one folding animal behaviour and conservation into the entertainment.

Tickets, timings and planning your visit

Dubai Safari Park tickets start at AED 50 for the Safari Park Pass, which covers all six zones and the free daily presentations. The park sits in Al Warqa 5 and opens daily from 9 in the morning to 6 in the evening, with last entry at 5. Air-conditioned shuttles connect the zones. You will also find wheelchairs, strollers, lockers and prayer rooms on site, which makes a long day with small children far easier to manage.

What Dubai Safari Park Season 8 offers families

Dubai Safari Park Season 8 is built around one quiet promise: time together in front of something real. The animals, the shows and the open habitats give children a reason to look up and ask questions. For parents, the opening week turns a single outing into a stretch of options that fit the school break. Because the season carries on into the cooler months, there is no rush to see everything in one go.
