  • If it can be copied in under a month, it’s not an opportunity. Real competitive advantage comes from ideas that take a solid 6-8 months — ideally a year or more — to duplicate.
  • Give away for free what competitors charge for, then charge a premium for what’s left. Bundling $10-$100 add-ons at zero cost positions you in front of top spenders, who generate roughly 80% of a market’s money.
  • Stacking easy features is not an advantage. Easy things are easy for a reason; 10 easy things are still easy, and competitors replicate the whole bundle within weeks.
  • Negotiate 90-day supplier payment terms to unlock cash flow. Paying 90 days after production lets you buy more and cheaper, advertise aggressively, run longer promos, open more channels, and generate revenue at near-zero cost.

Everyone is looking for business opportunities, but very few are actually looking where it matters. In business, understanding an opportunity means you know the bigger picture. Without being able to look at that particular market with a 360-degree overview, it’s very hard to actually generate a “business opportunity.” Not knowing what’s happening for real, your entrepreneurial etiquette is on par with those people who, after a 3-hour layover in Oslo, tell everyone they visited Denmark — and add Denmark to their travel portfolio, counting another European country.

Assume that someone is already doing it

The absurdity is worse in the entrepreneurial game, where you actually spend time on your “business opportunity” when, maybe, in reality, there are at least 5 businesses doing exactly your God-sent idea — faster, better, and easier. Next time you have that energy spark and “feel” something, a healthier approach will be to assume that someone is already doing it.

Ideally, you don’t follow your mind’s “internal creative department” that generates amazing business opportunities on a daily basis in Real Estate, Oil, cyber-security, AI data centers, Robotics, AI Agents, sportswear, supplements, and obviously the supreme and ultimate idea that only you have and no one else in the history of mankind: a great restaurant business model.

Because you know “exactly how they think and what they want, and most importantly, you know immediately how to deal with pretty much everything.” Ok, that being said: now select all these stages in the life of the brilliant-idea-generating entrepreneur, press delete, then right-click, then empty recycle bin, then YES, SURE. Great. Now let’s start.

Position your business directly in front of the top buyers

One of the greatest business opportunities ever is to give away as much as you can for free from what your competitors are charging for, and then 5x the price for what’s left. In this way, you send half your competitors behind the Sun after the 1st lap. Literally, it doesn’t make any sense for anyone to pay for something they can find the SAME way for free.

You’ll be amazed how many things actually have huge potential to be included in this “free package” — things that add value, things that normally carry a price tag of $10 up to $100. In this way, you position your business directly in front of the top buyers, the portion of that entire audience that has the most money: real spenders, action-takers. This audience alone, in general, generates around 80% of all the money being made in that market. Totally worth it.

This is the business opportunity

Think about a business in fitness, where one of your competitors is selling: water bottles, resistance bands, yoga mats, yoga brick supports, ab roller, jump rope, gym gloves, etc. Now, think in this way. What can I sell to this avatar who is buying all these things, where I can offer ALL of them in an “ELITE FITNESS HOME GYM” Bonus!!! package for FREE! Yes, ALL included at zero cost. If all these are free, what is actually the main product then? This is the business opportunity that you generate.

It might be a private 1:1 90-day revenge-body plan where you target only women in depression after a major breakup. Because their mind is “travelling,” you need to make everything not just easy, but unbelievably easy and comfortable. In fact, the only thing your exclusive client has to think about is one thing: that 45-minute training session.

EVERYTHING ELSE is included and delivered. Including the grocery list, or even a pre-selected grocery cart where she just needs to log in and pay for it. Or all the week’s meals are already designed and scheduled for delivery through the meal-plan service. This busy CEO, who just broke up and is in a complete “out of this world” state of mind, will pay blindly for ANYTHING that makes her feel better with ZERO EFFORT.

Your zero competitive advantage

Now, my purpose with this writing is not to design this offer — even though I’m confident I can create something really cool out of it — but my point is to get you thinking about how to generate business opportunities. One aspect is worth mentioning: a business opportunity that can be duplicated in less than a month is not a business opportunity.

You literally have zero competitive advantage. From my experience, a solid 6-8 months is a good start, ideally 1 year+. Because, in the end, someone will figure it out too. Maybe even better than yours. And this is the chain of business opportunities, where everybody is building on someone else’s work.

A bad business opportunity is to take multiple easy-to-duplicate things and, because there are 4-5 or 10 of them, think your product is now way better because “look at how many things we do vs them.” In fact, you created nothing. Because an easy thing is easy for a reason, and 10 easy things are still easy. That means that within 2 weeks, 5 competitors have already implemented ALL your brilliant ideas in their businesses, and now they’ve sent your business behind the Sun.

The 90-day payment plan

One of the most powerful business opportunities — and this business move was actually the stratospheric accelerator in one of my e-commerce businesses — is to negotiate a 90- or 120-day payment plan. Meaning: an unbelievable, skyrocketing cash flow strategy that not only allows you to buy more (so, cheaper), but, with more inventory available, lets you: 1. Be super aggressive in Ads (you have something to sell), run longer promotions than your competitors, and even sell more units under the promo price — because with great inventory available, you still have room to cover profits from the full-price units coming after the promo ends.

With great inventory, you can access more selling channels. You can increase your affiliate members. You can actually negotiate great bulk deals. The list goes on and on, with only benefits for you. Everything because of this one single business move: the 90-day payment plan. 90 days after production is finished (a great tip to keep in mind — it does make the difference).

This plan will actually allow you to generate revenue at zero cost. If this still didn’t destroy your brain, then take this business move and apply it with 5 suppliers. Now you have a competitive advantage that represents, for real, a business opportunity.

Why is everyone not doing it?

You might think anyone can negotiate the 90-day payment plan — so where’s the competitive advantage? The answer is yes, anyone could, but not everyone is actually successful with it. Why? Because:

  1. Not everyone even takes such an option into consideration.
  2. Not every supplier has the financial capabilities to support this plan. Think about it — he needs to cover his expenses for 3 months. This is not an easy thing in business AT ALL.
  3. Not every business is solid enough to support this plan in the supplier’s eyes.
  4. Not every buyer-supplier relationship has reached this level of trust.
  5. Not every entrepreneur is actually able to negotiate these terms.

This business move looks easy, but it’s not. That’s why actually having it done DOES represent a real competitive advantage. Because, in fact, no one knows how the hell you can stay that much longer at the promo price, or how you can sell that much on a monthly basis. To copy it, your competitor needs to invest a lot! That, again, is not an easy thing to do. Not everyone has this financial availability to play big.
