Pavel Durov is a Russian-born entrepreneur and the founder of Telegram, known for his commitment to privacy, free speech, and decentralization. Born in 1984, he co-founded VK (VKontakte), Russia’s largest social network, in 2006 but lost control of it in 2014 due to government pressure. He then left Russia and created Telegram, a highly secure and censorship-resistant messaging platform. Often called the “Mark Zuckerberg of Russia,” Durov is known for his libertarian views, minimalist lifestyle, and refusal to comply with authoritarian demands. Now a UAE citizen, he continues to lead Telegram as an independent, global communication tool.
