Off The Grid Steam launch is officially scheduled for June 2025, marking another major milestone for Gunzilla Games.
This follows the game’s release on the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. Now, PC players who prefer Steam will be able to join in.
One of the biggest features is full cross-play support. This means players across console and PC platforms can squad up and compete together. It’s a move that should help increase the player base and deliver more dynamic, fast-paced extraction shooter sessions. Off The Grid aims to compete in a saturated genre, but this unified gameplay experience sets it apart.
While excitement around the Off The Grid Steam launch grows, one important feature seems to be absent. The blockchain integration — heavily advertised during earlier marketing — isn’t mentioned anywhere on Steam’s version. In fact, Valve’s policy strictly bans games with blockchain elements, suggesting this Steam build is a “web2-only” version of the game.
Cross-play shooter lands without blockchain features
Players familiar with Gunzilla’s Avalanche-based Gunz blockchain may find the Steam version limited. In the blockchain version, players can equip NFT-based cybernetic limbs, weapons, and skins. These NFTs are part of a play-to-own system, where items can be traded or upgraded.
On Steam, the description mentions only “15+ limbs” for looting and loadouts — a stripped-down experience compared to the full Web3 version. This limitation may disappoint players expecting full integration across all platforms.
Still, the release expands the game’s reach. It opens doors to players who prefer traditional gaming environments and aren’t interested in crypto features.

Off The Grid Steam launch fuels mainstream interest
Gunzilla Games continues to push blockchain gaming forward with a gradual migration from testnet to mainnet. The GUN token officially launched on 31st March 2025. Players can now trade NFTs on-chain, with some rare items already selling for over $1,000.
However, the Steam release is a strategic step into mainstream waters. While it excludes NFTs and tokens, it introduces the gameplay to millions of PC gamers. Whether this split approach — Web2 for Steam, Web3 elsewhere — will work remains to be seen. But it could be the blueprint for other hybrid games moving forward.
Off The Grid Steam launch puts the spotlight back on Gunzilla’s vision. Even without blockchain, the core gameplay may be strong enough to pull in a dedicated fanbase.
